ECOALF is a non-profit foundation that joins the Ministry of Tourism of Thailand and PTT Global Chemical to replicate Upcycling the Oceans in Southeast Thailand with the aim of promoting the selective recovery of waste in order to recycle, valorise and avoid its harmful effects on the environment by developing and applying new scientific and technological knowledge.
ECOALF was born with the aim of cleaning the oceans of marine litter with the help of the fishing industry and giving a second life to plastic waste through recycling and closing the cycle. Currently, the ECOALF Foundation collaborates with local partners to carry out Upcycling the Oceans in Spain, Greece and Thailand, as well as working on its implementation in other parts of the world.
They cleared over 500 tons of waste from the ocean floor, recycled over 200 million plastic bottles, helped recycle 100 tons of discarded fishing nets, and developed over 300 recycled fabrics from different types of waste.
